Integrative Pediatrics: From Evidence and Education to Clinical Practice
Integrative Pediatrics brings together conventional pediatric medicine and evidence-informed complementary approaches to support the health, prevention, treatment, and well-being of children and adolescents.
The Integrative Pediatrics Track at the 18th European Congress of Integrative Medicine (ECIM) and the 4th International Congress of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine opens with an international perspective on the development of the field, highlighting four essential pillars: research, best clinical practice, education, and advocacy. The programme will examine current evidence and research priorities, evidence mapping, models for professional education, and strategies to strengthen the scientific and clinical foundations of Integrative Pediatrics.
Building on this framework, dedicated sessions will explore mental and neurodevelopmental health, including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, eating disorders, music therapy, and lifestyle-based approaches. Acute infections and respiratory diseases will be addressed through pediatric fever and antimicrobial stewardship, phytotherapy in acute infections and respiratory conditions, and integrative approaches to asthma.
The clinical programme will also focus on pediatric oncology, autoimmune diseases, and pain management, examining supportive integrative interventions and multimodal approaches alongside conventional pediatric treatment. Across these areas, particular attention will be given to the quality of evidence, safety, effectiveness, clinical relevance, and the translation of research findings into clinical practice.
With contributions and perspectives from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Integrative Health Global (IHG), International Network of Integrative Pediatrics (INIP), and Türkiye Traditional and Complementary Medicine Institute (TÜGET), the track provides an international platform for scientific exchange and collaboration. By connecting evidence with clinical practice, it aims to strengthen the scientific foundations of Integrative Pediatrics and contribute to its future development in child and adolescent healthcare.
