During 20 years at the Turkish Ministry of Health he held mid- and senior-level administrative positions and contributed to numerous national and international projects, including consultancy on health projects in African and Asian countries. He completed postgraduate training in Public Health at Hacettepe University, postdoctoral studies in the Takemi Program in International Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a diploma in International Health and Policy Evaluation at Erasmus University. In traditional medicine he trained in Acupuncture & Moxibustion at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and observed practices across the Far East.
Since 2014 he has taught full-time in Public Health (undergraduate to doctoral), Global Health and Health Policy, and graduate/doctoral programs in Traditional and Complementary Medicine, Phytotherapy, and Biotherapeutic Products R&D.
