Biography:
Prof. Dr. Gülsen Meral graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1994. She became a specialist in Pediatrics in 2001 and has served in various hospitals as a specialist physician, deputy chief physician, and chief physician throughout her career.
Prof. Dr. Meral completed her PhD in Medical Genetics at Biruni University. She also holds a master’s degree in Hospital Management and a bachelor’s degree in Turkish Language and Literature. Between 2019 and 2021, she served as Advisor to the Rector at ITU Northern Cyprus.
Throughout her academic career, she has taught nutrigenetics at the postgraduate level and has delivered undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of child development. She is also an acupuncture instructor. Prof. Dr. Meral currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Istanbul Nişantaşı University.
As the founder and director of Epigenetic Coaching UK, Prof. Dr. Meral continues her research, education, and consultancy activities in the fields of nutrigenetics, epigenetics, personalized health, longevity, and preventive medicine. She is the founder of the Nutrigenetics and Epigenetics Association in Turkey and the United Kingdom and provides internationally accredited Continuing Professional Development, CPD, training programs for healthcare professionals.
Prof. Dr. Meral has authored numerous national and international scientific publications and has served as an editorial board member and reviewer for various academic journals. She has chaired the First, Second, and Third International Epigenetics Congresses and has taken part in many international scientific congresses as an invited speaker and session chair. She continues to lead and teach within the Epigenetic Coaching Program.
In addition to her scientific work, Prof. Dr. Meral has a strong interest in literature and has published seven books. In her books “Dancing with Genes” and “Longevity Begins in Childhood,” she discusses the effects of genetic heritage, epigenetic mechanisms, lifestyle choices, and personalized approaches on healthy lifespan in a scientific and accessible language.
Prof. Dr. Gülsen Meral is a member of Yeşilay, the Rumeli Association, the Istanbul Acupuncture Association, the International Society of Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics, the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine, and the College of Medicine and Integrated Health. The Royal Society of Medicine
Her work focuses on personalized medicine, nutrigenetics-based epigenetic approaches, longevity, and multidisciplinary health models, with a broad perspective ranging from child health to healthy aging.
