Prof. Figen Çizmeci Şenel
She graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1994 and completed her doctorate/specialty in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the same university in 2001. In 2002 she worked as a research fellow at Washington Hospital Center, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and completed NIH clinical research certificate programmes.
After becoming Associate Professor in 2008, she served as visiting faculty at Washington Hospital Center (2009) and NIH NIDCR (2013). She was appointed Professor at Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Dentistry in 2013 and worked as a researcher on NIH NIDCR projects in 2017.
From 2018 to 2025 she was President of TÜSEB’s Turkish Institute for Health Services Quality and Accreditation (TÜSKA); in 2021–2022 she served as TÜSEB Secretary General. During COVID-19 she was the sole dentist member of the Ministry of Health Coronavirus Scientific Advisory Board. She served on the Higher Education Quality Council (2018–2022). In 2025 she was elected President of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ACBID) and is Türkiye Director of the American Institute of Implant Dentistry. She has more than 100 publications/presentations and book/translation editorships.
