He graduated in Biology (Basic and Industrial Microbiology) from Ege University (1988) and completed MSc (1991) and PhD (1997) in Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology at Istanbul University. He progressed from research assistant to Professor (2023) at Cerrahpaşa Medical Microbiology.
Expertise includes medical microbiology, parasitology, medical/forensic entomology, larval debridement therapy, hirudotherapy, and ichthyotherapy. He is a certified trainer in larval debridement therapy and has numerous international publications on Lucilia sericata larval therapy, wound care, and related GETAT applications.
