In this position, counseled children and their families on safe use of integrative therapies and nutritional interventions. The nutritional interventions included dietary counseling, management of chemotherapy-related side-effects, weight management, initiation and administration of nasogastric feeds, and referral for total parenteral nutrition (TPN), when indicated. Guidance on integrative therapies included safe administration of nutritional supplements, herbal remedies, acupuncture, and yoga for symptom management. (Total hours per week = 30)05/2002 – 11/2013 Served as the Director of nutrition and integrative clinical services for the Integrative Therapies Program in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant. In this role I continued to counsel children and their families on safe use of integrative therapies and nutritional interventions during and after treatment for childhood cancer. As well, I directed the growth of our clinical team and provision of expanded integrative and clinical services (grew program from a clinical team of 2 to 6 staff members). In this role I served as an expert resource for both nutrition and integrative medicine for the Division and Department of Pediatrics. (Total hours per week = 30)11/2013 – present Provide direction and advisement on the delivery of nutritional and integrative care in pediatric oncology; serve as an expert/advisor in integrative medicine for clinical care in the Division, Department of Pediatrics, and Medical Oncology. Expanded clinical care to the Center for Comprehensive Wellness, which enriched nutrition and integrative services offered to survivors of childhood cancer. This innovative clinical model was later expanded to improve clinical care in low-and middle-income countries (LMIC) through the establishment of IIPAN in 2016. In this context, I advise pediatric cancer units on the establishment, development and expansion of clinical nutrition programs among children with cancer receiving treatment in an LMIC.
