I received my specialization in Anesthesiology and Reanimation from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and also hold certificates in acupuncture and hypnosis application. I am a member of the advisory board of the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Application and Research Center in various universities and associations. I serve on the scientific, organizing, and advisory boards of many congresses in the fields of Anesthesiology and Traditional and Complementary Medicine, also given presentations at many meetings.
My areas of special interests include the use of hypnosis in acute and chronic pain, sedation, and anxiety. I actively use hypnosis in operating rooms and intensive care units and have numerous international and national academic articles on hypnosis. Currently I work as an anesthesiology and intensive care specialist at Bursa High Specialization Training and Research Hospital, Health Sciences University.

KISA ÖZGEÇMİŞ Prof. Dr. Şeyda Efsun Özgünay Ankara Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi mezunudur. Ankara Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi’nden Anesteziyoloji ve Reanimasyon Anabilim Dalından uzmanlığını almıştır. Şu anda, Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Bursa Tıp Fakültesi Bursa Yüksek İhtisas EAHastanesinde Anestesteziyoloji ve Reanimasyon Anabilim Dalında öğretim görevlisi olarak çalışmaktadır. Akupunktur ve hipnoz uygulamaları konusunda sertifikaları mevcuttur. Sağlık Bakanlığı hipnoz eğitmenlerindendir. Anesteziyoloji ve Geleneksel ve Tamamlayıcı Tıp alanında birçok kongrenin bilim, düzenleme ve danışma kurullarında görev almıştır. Birçok akademik kongre ve toplantıda sunumlar yapmıştır. Ayrıca Klinik Araştırmalar Etik Kurulu üyeliği görevinde bulunmuştur. Prof. Dr. Özgünay özellikle ameliyathane ve yoğun bakım ünitesinde hipnoz kullanımı konularında çok sayıda ulusal ve uluslararası yayın ve kitapta yer almıştır. Bu akademik yayınları birçok metaanalize de girmiştir. Getat ile ilgili araştırmaları, ağırlıklı olarak ameliyathane ve yoğun bakım hastalarında hipnoz ile ilgilidir. Hipnozun bu hasta grubunda; Ağrı, sedasyon, anksiyete ve prehabilitasyona etkisi özellikle ilgilendiği alanlardır. Ameliyathane ve yoğun bakımda hipnozun adjuvan etkisi ve yan etkilerin azaltılması ile ilgili çalışmaları devam etmektedir. Gebe ve bebekte hipnoz etkisi, ilgilendiği bir diğer alandır. Sağlık Bakanlığı Halk Sağlığı Genel Müdürlüğü tarafından düzenlenen tütün çalıştayında yer almıştır. Sigara alışkanlığı ve bırakma ile ilgili çalışmaları da halen devam etmektedir. Ayrıca Türkiye Sağlık Enstitüleri Başkanlığı (TÜSEB) Geleneksel ve Tamamlayıcı Tıp Enstitüsü (TÜGET) Klinik Araştırma ve Projeler Bilim Kurulu üyesidir. E-posta: seyda-efsun@hotmail.comOrcid no: 0000-0003-1501-9292SHORT BIOGRAPHYProfessor Şeyda Efsun Özgünay, MD, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Ankara University and completed her residency training in the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine.She currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences Türkiye, Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital. She holds certifications in both acupuncture and medical hypnosis and is an accredited hypnosis instructor certified by the Turkish Ministry of Health. Throughout her academic career, she has served on the scientific, organizing, and advisory committees of numerous national and international congresses in the fields of anesthesiology and traditional and complementary medicine. She has delivered invited lectures and scientific presentations at many academic conferences and professional meetings. In addition, she has served as a member of a Clinical Research Ethics Committee.Professor Özgünay has authored numerous national and international scientific publications and book chapters, particularly focusing on the application of hypnosis in the operating room and intensive care unit. Her publications have been cited in multiple systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Her research in Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) primarily investigates the role of hypnosis in perioperative and critically ill patients. Her principal research interests include the effects of hypnosis on pain management, sedation, anxiety reduction, and prehabilitation. She is currently conducting research on the adjunctive role of hypnosis in anesthesia and intensive care, with particular emphasis on reducing perioperative adverse effects. Another major area of her research focuses on the application and effects of hypnosis during pregnancy and infancy.Professor Özgünay participated in the National Tobacco Control Workshop organized by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Turkish Ministry of Health. She continues to conduct research on tobacco dependence and smoking cessation.
