Prof. Maura Iris Pérez Recio, MD
Official, National Department of Traditional and Natural Medicine, Ministry of Public Health of Cuba. Assistant Professor; Master in Research on Climacteric and Menopause. Based in Havana. Languages: Spanish and English.
MD, Faculty of Medical Sciences of Matanzas (1992). First-degree specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine (1997) and in Traditional and Natural Medicine (Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana, “Calixto García”). 34 years of professional experience. Research lines include characterization of medicinal plant use in type 2 diabetes and in climacteric women, and therapeutic usefulness of catgut implantation in vasomotor syndrome; participant in the Cuban nutritional supplement project for women’s quality of life.
Active congress speaker (BIONAT, CIGB, CENIC, 3rd International Congress of Traditional and Complementary Medicine – Türkiye 2025). Teaching includes postgraduate courses in MNT, dyslipidemia and phytotherapy, and modules in the Master’s in Bioenergetic and Natural Medicine. Internationalist mission in Venezuela (2003–2010). Awards include the Piti Fajardo Medal and Merit for Humanism (COVID). Member of the Cuban Society of Bioenergetic and Naturalist Medicine.
