Integrative Nursing: From Evidence and Competencies to Clinical Practice

Integrative Nursing brings together professional nursing care and evidence-informed complementary approaches, with a focus on translating scientific evidence into safe, effective, and clinically applicable nursing practice.

The Integrative Nursing Track at the 18th European Congress of Integrative Medicine (ECIM) and the 4th International Congress of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine opens with a focus on evidence, competencies, and implementation in clinical care. The programme will examine the current landscape of Integrative Nursing, key barriers and innovations, and practical strategies for translating evidence into routine nursing practice.

Building on this framework, the programme will explore the professional and scientific foundations of Integrative Nursing, including core competencies, legal and ethical frameworks, professional roles, levels of clinical evidence, and relevant guidelines. Particular attention will be given to how evidence-informed interventions can be incorporated into healthcare institutions through clinical protocols, implementation strategies, and sustainable models of nursing care.

Clinical sessions will address the translation of evidence into symptom management and bedside practice, including evidence-based integrative nursing interventions in perioperative care and the clinical application of reflexology. These discussions will connect research findings with clinical protocols, nursing decision-making, and measurable patient outcomes.

Across the track, emphasis will be placed on the quality of evidence, professional competency, patient safety, clinical applicability, institutional implementation, and outcomes of care.

By connecting scientific evidence with professional competencies and real-world clinical implementation, the track provides a platform for strengthening the scientific foundations of Integrative Nursing and advancing its role within evidence-informed healthcare.
